Founded : 1817 History : Formed from division of Goshen township, which had first been surveyed in 1704. The earliest taxables of the original township appear below.

East Fallowfield Township

Founded : 1743 History : Created from division of Fallowfield township which had first been formed in 1728. The original township was supposedly named in honor of Lancelot Fallowfield, of Great Strickland, England, one of the first purchasers of land from William Penn. His right was bought by John Salkeld, a noted Quaker minister, who came from that part of England and settled in this area in 1714. The township was divided into East and West Fallowfield in 1743.

Caln Township

Caln Township Founded: 1714 History: Caln township originally included modern day East Caln, Caln, West Caln, East Brandywine, West Brandywine, part of Valley township, the borough of Downingtown and a portion of Coatesville. It was first organized in 1714, with Peter Taylor serving as constable.

East Bradford Township

Founded : 1731 History : Formed from Bradford township, which was originally setup in 1705 with Richard Buffington as its first constable. He was followed by Robert Jefferis in 1706 and by Abiah Taylor in 1707. The original township was divided into East and West Bradford in 1731. The 1715 taxables list for the original township has been included below. East Coventry Township

Founded : 1844 History : Formed from part of North Coventry township. The original township for this area was Coventry which probably received its name form Samuel Nutt, one of the early settlers, who came from Coventry in Warwickshire in England. The township was later divided into East, South and North Coventry. The earliest taxables listing for this area is included below.

East Caln Township

Founded : 1744 History : Created out of Caln township, which was first laid out in 1714, with Peter Taylor as the first constable. The earliest taxable list for this area is included below.

Charlestown Township

Founded: 1702 History: First laid out as a township in 1702, Charlestown was named for Charles Pickering, who came to America with William Penn. The township was divided in 1826 and the eastern portion became Schuylkill township.
